Apple Cinnamon Upside-Down Cake

This delicious cake is topped with apple slices and cranberries for a festive looking dessert that will have everyone asking for seconds. All Recipes

  • 1 cup Mott's® Natural Applesauce
  • 1 medium apple
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cut apple in half and remove core. Cut each half into slices approximately 1/8-inch thick.

  2. Stir together brown sugar and water in medium saucepan. Add apple slices. Cook, stirring gently over medium heat, until apple slices are softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle cranberries in bottom of nonstick or greased 9-inch cake pan. Arrange apple slices over cranberries, drizzling with brown sugar sauce. Set aside.

  4. In large bowl or mixer, beat butter with granulated sugar until thoroughly combined. Add apple sauce and egg.

  5. In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and cinnamon. Gently blend into apple sauce mixture. Spoon batter over apples and cranberries, spreading evenly.

  6. Bake 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool 15 minutes before turning cake out onto wire rack to cool completely.

Pumpkin-Shaped Cheese Ball

Everyone will get a kick out of this creamy, savory spread. The zippy cheddar ball can be made a day ahead. Taste of Home

  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 package (8 ounces) spreadable chive and onion cream cheese
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • celery rib or broccoli stalk
  • Sliced apples and assorted crackers
  1. In a small bowl, beat cream cheeses until smooth. Stir in the cheddar cheese, paprika and cayenne. Shape into a ball; wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.

  2. With a knife, add vertical lines to the cheese ball to resemble a pumpkin; insert a celery rib or broccoli stalk for the stem. Serve with apples and crackers.
