Desi, word derived from Sanskrit. Means "one from our country"; a national opposed to a foreign. Usually refers to people from India, Pakistan, & Bangladesh. For Indians - Pakistanis - Bengalis abroad, it has become a term that mainly identifies another fellow Indian/Pakistani/Bengali.
